Navigating The Legal Landscape: A Workshop For Solicitors

On Tuesday 2nd October 2018, our Directors Andrew Kenyon and Richard Amphlett presented to an audience of some sixteen law firms attending the ‘Navigating the Legal Landscape’ workshop in Northwich, Cheshire.

The event was managed by Howard Worth Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors and co-sponsored by NatWest Commercial Banking. The interactive workshop was designed to help solicitors face today’s challenges and build a profitable and successful future for their firm.

Solicitors from across Cheshire joined us to hear from the range of high calibre speakers, which included Andrew Hague of Howard Worth, Paul Bennett of Aaron & Partners, Claire Morley and Alex Walters of NatWest, Bill Kirby from Professional Choice and Mike Porter from Legal Mentors.

Cox Mahon was one of the specialist Solicitors’ Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) brokers invited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) to participate in its 2018 round-table broker consultation process on its proposed changes to the SRA’s PII Regulations.

Andrew Kenyon and Richard Amphlett have shared a number of platforms with the SRA, with professional indemnity underwriters and with various legal profession groups.

Cox Mahon itself specialises in acting for smaller, independent and often regionally based, professional law practices.

Andrew briefed delegates on the SRA’s PII Rule Changes – what the changes are, how they might affect law firms in terms of risk and cost and whether the reforms can deliver the changes that the SRA is hoping for.

With 1st October just passed, Richard then reviewed the key themes emerging from this years’ Solicitors PI renewal process with a ‘post mortem’.

Alex and Claire from NatWest discussed benchmarking, key trends and KPIs for solicitors.

We extend our thanks to Howard Worth and to NatWest for their kind hospitality.
