Investment Agents – the PI Insurance solution 

Over the past 12 months, many RICS practices will have experienced the benefit of some genuine softening of the PI market. What hasn’t changed much is the number of RICS-qualifying insurers that still shy away from Investment Agents PI work, considering it to be high risk. Some see the word *investment* and assume that it involves discretionary authority, investment performance guarantees, or formal valuation advice—all of which are misconceptions. Others are deterred by the size of some of the transactions involved, fearing disproportionately large claims. 

And yet in nearly two decades of arranging of Investment Agents’ PI Insurance, the claims experience tells a different story. We’ve seen just three claims, and only one of those was a case of professional negligence.
